Pale Blue Dot

Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot

I seldom click video links when reading blogs or social networks, but if you’ve got 10 minutes I hope you’ll find this as deeply profound as I have. When seeing ourselves from this perspective, most of our problems seem trivial, and you question why we’re not doing everything in our power to help each other instead of engaging in geopolitical warfare between our arbitrarily defined borders. The USA is a melting pot of cultures, but the Earth is a melting pot of humanity. The evolution of our species is such a statistical rarity, allowing us beautifully articulate expression to unconscionably savage actions, yet from a distance we’re nothing but a pale blue dot…”the only home, we’ve ever known.”
